Anointing of the Sick
This sacrament channels God’s healing graces to comfort and strengthen the faith of the person who is ill. It is usually administered upon request when a person’s health is impaired due to serious or chronic illness, old age, or before major surgery. Anointing of the Sick can be administered when death is imminent, although this sacrament is most beneficial when a sick person needs the healing and comfort of Christ and the Church.
