CYO Sports
Update From the Athletic Association:
Hello all,
On behalf of the St. Basil Athletic Association, I’m pleased to report that registration is now open for Spring 2022-23 Track and Field. We are grateful for the guidance and support of the Parish as we strive to provide the benefits of CYO sports to our participants.
Please be aware that the situation is fluid, and may change as dictated by the public health situation, and guided by our Parish Administration and Diocese of Cleveland CYO. We are all hopeful that the season can happen as planned, but need to be understanding that things outside our individual control may impact its completion. We will begin practice soon, but continued participation in practices and games will be determined by certain factors including, but not limited to:
- Completion of waivers and parental acknowledgement documentation for ALL players prior to any participation.
- The strict adherence by all coaches, parents and athletes to any relevant safety protocols and procedures.
The current St. Basil CYO Covid Conditions: Please be aware that all participants in St. Basil CYO are asked to consider the risk to others prior to entering the Family Life Center for a practice, or to any facility for a game. Note: Anyone with a fever greater than 100.4, or answering YES to any of these questions should notify their coaches and not attend the event. Please monitor your athlete prior to bringing them to practices or games.
- Are you currently experiencing any of the following symptoms: Cough, Body Aches, Sore Throat, Lost of Taste or Smell, Chest Pain?
- Have you been diagnosed positive for Covid-19 in the past 7 days?
Critically, we expect that all families maintain a transparent stance with respect to positive Covid-19 tests, and notify the St. Basil Athletic Director or your Sport Commissioner promptly if your athlete has tested positive. This will help us minimize exposure of other teammates and families. We hope to have a long season, and missing 2 practices is a small price to pay to help maintain the health and safety of our program.
Thank you for your participation, patience and assistance as we navigate this new season of CYO sports!
Best regards,
Joe Canzano

The St. Basil Athletic Association is called to teach the young people of our community Christian values through the principles of good sportsmanship, discipline, and the quest for excellence in healthy competition. As a part of the parish youth ministry, we strive to bring Christ to the youth of our parish through interaction with their peers and dedicated Christian coaches.
The St. Basil Athletic Association works with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) office within the Cleveland Catholic Diocese Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Sports programs are offered in the fall, winter and spring of each academic year. A group of dedicated parishioners oversees the programs offered. Meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 7:00 PM in the Parish Office building. These meetings are open to all parishioners who would like to be involved in the youth sports programs here at St. Basil. PLEASE JOIN US!!!
