Mission Statement

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity, a Christian-based organization, develops opportunities for all of God’s people to act out their faith. By working in partnerships to eliminate substandard housing, we enable families and volunteers to improve lives. We create hope by building homes, strengthening neighborhoods and reweaving communities.  www.gchfh.org

History of Greater Cleveland HFH

Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity, begun in 1987, is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Currently GCHFH is rehabbing older homes in Cleveland and operates a ReStore, one of the largest reuse and recycle centers in Cuyahoga County.

Partner Families

Habitat homeowners are called Partner Families because our program is a unique partnership with families involving training in home construction and finances, home maintenance, and volunteering to help other families. Habitat is committed to making decent and affordable housing available to families who have need, willingness to partner and the ability to pay a zero-interest loan.
After the application process, Partner Families invest in the Habitat process by volunteering in the building of their own home. Upon completion, you will purchase your home with a no-interest mortgage.

Partner Family Application Process

Interested parties are encouraged to complete the online Habitat Home Ownership pre-qualification application, or download a paper copy to mail in to get started.
