Short-term mission trips provide an opportunity to contribute significantly to many of the needs of the Honduran people. Participants experience an expanded view of the Creator, the great need in the world and the relative unimportance of “things” in their lives. These are trips of “reverse mission” where some of life’s most important lessons are learned from the poorest of the poor.
Saint Basil mission teams presently minister to the people of San Francisco de la Paz and the surrounding aldeas (villages) and at the Hogar del Niños (home of the Children) Medical Clinic. Recently, work has expanded to include construction and repairs at the Hogar de Niños “Santa Maria de Los Angeles” Orphanage in Juticalpa to improve the living conditions for the more than 25 children living there.
Project Eden has agreed to take over the ongoing needs of the water systems that had been installed by the St Basil mission. This partnership is a natural extension of Project Eden’s work to ensure that nutritional and health needs are met for the communities.
