Sacraments

A sacrament is:

1) a sacred sign
2) instituted by Christ
3) to give grace. 

Note that a sacrament is also “entrusted to the Church” (CCC 1131).

 
The purpose of the sacraments is:
 
(1) to sanctify us,

(2) to build up the Body of Christ, and
(3) to give worship to God (CCC 1123).
